Questions people ask
How do I work out what my gold is worth?
Weigh it in grams, find the carat (the hallmark tells you), then multiply: weight × gold content × today's price per gram of pure gold. This calculator does it for you.
What do the hallmark numbers mean?
They show the gold content in parts per thousand: 375 = 9ct (37.5%), 585 = 14ct, 750 = 18ct, 916 = 22ct, 999 = 24ct.
Will a buyer pay me this much?
Usually not. This is the value of the gold content at the market price. Buyers pay less to cover their costs and profit, and the gap varies a lot, so compare a few.
