US data follows New York time. For a week or two in spring and autumn the UK and US change their clocks on different dates, so it lands an hour earlier in UK time. Those weeks are marked. 2026: 25 Oct to 1 Nov. 2027: 14 Mar to 28 Mar.

2027 dates: not published yet. The US statistics agencies usually publish next year's dates late in the year. We add them here as soon as they are out.

What it means for gold

Fewer jobs than expected is usually bullish for gold. More jobs than expected is usually bearish. Gold reacts to the surprise, not the number itself. Read the full guide.

Questions people ask

What time is NFP in the UK?

13:30 UK time on most months. It is released at 8:30am New York time, so it lands at 12:30 UK for a week or two in spring and autumn when the clocks change on different dates.

When is the next NFP release?

See the box at the top of this page. NFP is usually on the first Friday of the month, but not always: in 2026 it moved to a Wednesday in February and a Thursday in July.

Why does NFP move gold?

It changes what traders expect the Fed to do with interest rates. Fewer jobs than expected usually makes rate cuts more likely, which usually helps gold. More jobs usually does the opposite.

What is NFP?

NFP stands for non-farm payrolls: the number of jobs the US added last month, leaving out farm workers. It comes in the monthly US jobs report, with the unemployment rate and pay growth.
